The SubSorted Home Screen widget lets you see your upcoming renewals and add a new subscription by voice without opening the app. It sits on your phone's Home Screen so you can check what's due and capture a subscription the moment you think of it.
The Home Screen widget is part of SubSorted Premium. If you're on the free tier, you'll see the option in Settings under Premium; upgrading unlocks the widget along with other features such as the renewal calendar, multiple profiles, and smarter reminders.
What the widget shows
The widget does two things. First, it displays a short summary of what's renewing soon so you can see at a glance what's coming up without opening SubSorted. Second, it offers a one-tap shortcut to add a subscription by voice (Speak & Sort). Tapping that opens the app and starts the voice flow: you say the subscription details, SubSorted creates a draft, and you review and save it in the app. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
How to add the widget
SubSorted cannot add the widget to your Home Screen for you. Your device controls where widgets go, so you add it yourself in a few steps. The process is slightly different on iPhone and Android.
On iPhone (iOS)
- 1 Long-press on an empty area of your Home Screen until the icons start to jiggle.
- 2 Tap the + button (top left on newer iOS versions, or in the menu that appears).
- 3 Search for SubSorted or scroll until you find it in the widget list.
- 4 Choose the SubSorted widget size you want, then tap Add Widget.
- 5 Drag the widget to the position you want and tap Done.
On Android
- 1 Long-press on an empty area of your Home Screen.
- 2 Tap Widgets (or the equivalent option on your device).
- 3 Find SubSorted in the list and tap it.
- 4 Select the widget size you want, then drag it onto your Home Screen and release.
Once the widget is in place, it will show your upcoming renewals and the voice-add shortcut. Tap the widget to open SubSorted, or use the voice shortcut to add a subscription by speaking.
If you have Premium, you can open the widget setup prompt from Settings in SubSorted. Tap your profile or the gear icon, scroll to the Premium section, and tap Home screen widget. The app will remind you to long-press your Home Screen and add the widget there; it cannot add it for you.
Removing or moving the widget
To remove the widget, long-press on it and choose Remove or Remove Widget. To move it, long-press and drag it to a new position. This is the same as for any other Home Screen widget on your device.
If you cancel Premium, the widget will stop showing your data. You can leave it on your Home Screen if you like, but it will no longer display renewals or the voice shortcut until you subscribe again.
