Subscription details change. Prices go up, billing dates shift, and sometimes you cancel something and want to keep a record of it without it cluttering your active list. SubSorted is designed to make all of this straightforward — and reversible.
Here's how to edit, archive, and delete subscriptions, and what each option actually does.
Editing a subscription
Tap any subscription in your list to open it, then tap Edit. You can change any of the following:
- Name — update the display name if you prefer something different.
- Amount — adjust the price when it changes (common with annual renewals).
- Billing cycle — switch between monthly, annual, or custom intervals.
- Renewal date — correct the date if it was entered wrong, or update it after a plan change.
- Category — reorganise where it sits in your list.
- Notes — add or update any personal notes.
- Reminder timing — change how far in advance you're reminded.
Changes are saved when you confirm, and any associated reminders are updated automatically. If you change a renewal date, the next reminder is recalculated to match.
If a subscription increases in price, just edit the amount. SubSorted doesn't track price history — it shows you what you're paying now, which is what matters for deciding whether to keep it.
Archiving a subscription
Archiving is for subscriptions you've cancelled but want to keep a record of. It removes the subscription from your active list and stops all reminders, but keeps the data on your device so you can refer back to it later.
This is useful when:
- You've cancelled but want to remember what you were paying.
- You're pausing a subscription and might reactivate it later.
- You want a clean active list without losing historical information.
How to archive
- Tap the subscription you want to archive.
- Tap Archive (or swipe, depending on your view).
- Confirm when asked.
The subscription moves to your archive. It won't appear in your main list or count towards any totals. No reminders will be sent for it.
If you're not sure whether to delete something, archive it instead. You can always restore it later or delete it from the archive if you change your mind. There's no cost to keeping something archived.
Restoring an archived subscription
Changed your mind? Resubscribed to something? Restoring is simple:
- Go to your archive (accessible from the main menu).
- Tap the subscription you want to restore.
- Tap Restore.
The subscription returns to your active list with all its original details. You'll be asked to confirm or update the renewal date, since it may have changed since you archived it. Reminders are re-enabled based on the new date.
Everything else — name, amount, category, notes — comes back exactly as it was. Nothing is lost during archiving.
Deleting a subscription
Deleting permanently removes a subscription from your device. Unlike archiving, this can't be undone. The data is gone.
SubSorted will always ask you to confirm before deleting. The confirmation is clear and specific — it tells you exactly what you're about to remove, so there's no ambiguity.
When to delete
- You added something by mistake.
- You don't want any record of this subscription.
- You're tidying up test entries or duplicates.
When to archive instead
- You've cancelled but might resubscribe.
- You want to remember what you were paying.
- You're not completely sure you want it gone.
The general rule is simple: if you might ever want to see this subscription again, archive it. If you're certain you won't, delete it. There's no wrong choice — archiving is just the more cautious one.
Nothing is permanent until you say so
SubSorted is designed so that you can't accidentally break anything. Edits can be undone by editing again. Archives can be restored. And deletes always require explicit confirmation with a clear description of what's being removed.
The goal is to make your subscription data feel like something you're in control of, not something fragile that might disappear if you tap the wrong button. Make changes confidently — SubSorted has your back.
